Law No. 2813, better known as the Law of the Artist, Interpreter and Performer, approved by the Convention for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, was enacted more than 17 years ago, so it is planned to review it again with the aim of adapting it to the new current context.

In this sense, the Ministry of Culture together with UNESCO Peru began the process of formulating a new Artist’s Law. This project will include the regions of the country in a participatory manner so that this new law focuses mainly on the culture sector.

Among the main points to modify is the recognition of artistic work as work worthy of rights, the formalization of artistic and cultural work will be more viable; the recognition of labor rights according to each sector; and the identification of the diversity of the sector as a pillar in the construction of the law.

It is expected that this project can be presented in July of this year through a national dialogue, implementing a participatory methodology.

En ese sentido, el Ministerio de Cultura junto con la UNESCO Perú iniciaron el proceso de formulación para elaborar una nueva Ley del Artista. Este proyecto incluirá de manera participativa a las regiones del país con la finalidad que esta nueva ley se enfoque principalmente en el sector de cultura.  

Entre los principales puntos a modificar se encuentra el reconocimiento del trabajo artístico como trabajo digno de derechos, la formalización del trabajo artístico y cultural será más viable; el reconocimiento de los derechos laborales de acuerdo a cada sector; y la identificación de la diversidad del sector como un pilar en la construcción de la ley.

Se espera que este proyecto pueda presentarse en julio del presente año mediante diálogo nacional implementando una metodología participativa.
